MW No Debt: Good evening folks.. welcome to Money Whiz chat... Please if you
have any questions
MW No Debt: regarding bankruptcy, please feel free to ask...
WKwanmis: hi mw no debt
WKwanmis: what's my next step
MW No Debt: Hiya WK
WKwanmis: after getting a secured credit card and using it
MW No Debt: Next step??
WKwanmis: for the last 9 months
WKwanmis: how do i rebuild my credit
MW No Debt: You're trying to obtain a unsecured credit card?
WKwanmis: yep
WKwanmis: keep getting turn down
WKwanmis: as expected
MW No Debt: Ways to rebuild credit.. good topic... let's go over a few ideas.
MW No Debt: One of the things most companies look for is rebuilt credit after
a bankruptcy
MW No Debt: But there is a little loophole that comes along with this..
OnlineHost: WGreer1 has entered the room.
MW No Debt: How do you rebuild credit... if noone will give you any?
MW No Debt: Well.. one way to handle this is to take out a secured loan at
your local bank.
OnlineHost: CESPolly has entered the room.
MW No Debt: Usually a loan officer will be glad to help you do this..
WKwanmis: is that the same as getting a secured credit card
MW No Debt: They give you a loan amount.. depending upon what you want as a
payment each month.
MW No Debt: Yes an no WK
WKwanmis: ok
MW No Debt: They deposit the amount of money they would loan you in a
cd..usually for the term of 1 year
WKwanmis: i basically keep a charge on it and pay off monthly balance
OnlineHost: KitPaul has entered the room.
MW No Debt: When you have made all your payments.. which you don't want to
make extra payments or
WKwanmis: sorry for interrupting
MW No Debt: anything.. because this is how you go about re-establishing your
credit rating.
MW No Debt: No problem WK = )
WKwanmis: so if i make minimal payments its better for establishing credit
MW No Debt: No, not just minimal payments, on this type of loan yes..
because, the interest rate is
WKwanmis: what do i do after the secured loan?
MW No Debt: usually really low.
CESPolly: is it better to file 7,11 or 13 from a re-establish standpoint?
MW No Debt: When you have finished paying off the loan, the money is yours to
do with as you choose.
MW No Debt: CES.. it all depends upon the individual circumstances.
WKwanmis: what's next?
WKwanmis: obviously that isn't enough
CESPolly: what about auto loans...
CESPolly: buy something cheap or finance something reliable
OnlineHost: SHK241 has entered the room.
OnlineHost: WargVene has entered the room.
MW No Debt: Well CES. that depends also.. unless you have some reestablished
credit.. car companies, are
MW No Debt: all too happy to charge exhorbinant interest rates.
MW No Debt: So, I say buy something outright if you can
WKwanmis: so MW, after the secure loan and credit card, what else do i have
to do, or is it just time
CESPolly: ok
MW No Debt: WK, what do you mean what's next?? With secured cards, and the
loan I mentioned.. this
MW No Debt: should be enough..
WargVene: ?
MW No Debt: but you have to look at the time period.
WKwanmis: time period? how long should the secure loan be?
MW No Debt: Most companies require your bk to be discharged two years before
they are willing to "touch"
MW No Debt: your credit worthiness
WKwanmis: oh, so am i starting too soon with this secured loan try
MW No Debt: Secured loan time period should be from 1 year to two years.
WargVene: are question by protocal?
MW No Debt: No WV, if you have a question, feel free to ask..
WKwanmis: i plan on buying a house in 2 years, i read the papers they have
all these companies
MW No Debt: I try to keep up!
WargVene: How long does a bk stay on your credit report
MW No Debt: 7 to 10 years
WKwanmis: offering mortgage loans to people like us
WKwanmis: do they charge crazy interest rates
MW No Debt: But at what interest rate WK?
MW No Debt: Some do, and some don't.
WKwanmis: i've been afraid to call and find out
MW No Debt: I went through the VA, and got 7.5%
WargVene: if it stays on for 7-10 years how difficult is it to get a mortage
or do you have to wait
WKwanmis: what's VA?
MW No Debt: Call and ask.. it doesn't hurt to ask.
WKwanmis: are they crooks? sounds silly?
MW No Debt: A mortgage is usually easily obtained after two years WV
MW No Debt: As with all companies.. some are and some aren't WK
WKwanmis: providing i go through with the secure loan
WargVene: do they ususally require a larger deposit
MW No Debt: VA = Veterans Administration.. You have to be a veteran to use
the VA deal
WKwanmis: any reliable ones you know off hand
MW No Debt: WV, deposit depends upon which route you take..
WKwanmis: i guess i don't qualify
MW No Debt: and financing options
MW No Debt: VA = no downpayment.
MW No Debt: FHA = 5% down payment
WKwanmis: if i try to finance a mortgage with my girlfriend who has a good
credit rating
OnlineHost: MadamePrez has entered the room.
MW No Debt: Hud= 3-10% downpayment
WKwanmis: will my rating drag our chances down
MW No Debt: Hello Madame Prez
WargVene: even after the 7-10 years a bk has been on your credit report is
there still something to
WargVene: indicate that at one time you declared bk
MadamePrez: Hello, I have a question about my bank, and I am not sure who to
talk to about it.
MW No Debt: I honestly do not know the answer to that one WV.. but I do not
believe it does.
MW No Debt: Go ahead and ask Madame.. worse case. I tell you i don't know.
WargVene: so it follows you forever?
WKwanmis: did you go through this painful experience MW
MW No Debt: No I do not think so WV
WKwanmis: bankruptcy
MW No Debt: Yes I did WK three years ago
MadamePrez: My bank WELLS FARGO, has been stealing money from me. Today,
everything came to light
WKwanmis: are you totally recovered now
MW No Debt: How is that Madame?
OnlineHost: BBIWES has entered the room.
MW No Debt: Totally recovered??
MW No Debt: Well let's say I am doing much better
OnlineHost: MChap38434 has entered the room.
WKwanmis: can you buy a car on credit, apply for regular credit cards, get a
normal mortgage, etc
MW No Debt: Welcome to char MChap
MW No Debt: Chat even.. my apologies
WKwanmis: basically are you treated like a normal person
MadamePrez: It is a long and complicated story, but sufice it to say, there
is a great paper trail
MW No Debt: Yes WK. I can
WKwanmis: i have this complex now hehehhe
OnlineHost: TNguyen232 has entered the room.
MChap38434: hello
WKwanmis: its just so frustrating now
MW No Debt: Well with some companies, they inguire about the BK still.
MW No Debt: Welcome to chat TNguyen232
TNguyen232: HI MW
MadamePrez: My current plan is to sue the heck out of Wells Fargo, but I need
to know how to go about
MW No Debt: Okay Madame.. so what is your question?
MadamePrez: finding out how much they are worth
MW No Debt: Finding out how much they are worth, or how much money they are
insured for for lawsuits?
MadamePrez: I figure for the hell they have put me through, I should be
compensated.
MW No Debt: Well Madame, if your claim can be proved, contact a lawyer
WKwanmis: so if i wanted to purchase a home with my girlfriend's help, it
would be too soon
MadamePrez: I guess both.
OnlineHost: DugzTalkng has entered the room.
MW No Debt: WK, right now probably so.
WKwanmis: unless i want to deal with the special brokers
MW No Debt: Welcome to chat Dugz
MW No Debt: Yes WK..
WKwanmis: it's good to know your options
DugzTalkng: thnks its nice to be here
MadamePrez: MW, Not only can it be proved on paper, it is also witnessed by
Discover Card/ Nexus.
MW No Debt: Sometimes it depends upon the situation.. some companies, are
willing to finance you once
MW No Debt: you have a discharge
MW No Debt: Well then I reccommend a inital consult with a lawyer Madame.
WKwanmis: MW are you sure banks will give a secure loan to anybody
WKwanmis: i assume you have to match the amount of cash you apply for
OnlineHost: Tgreer1 has entered the room.
MW No Debt: Yes, they have nothing to lose by secured loans, you can;t touch
the money until you have
MW No Debt: paid for it..
MadamePrez: I will contact a lawyer, but I want to go in with a figure in
mind, because I am assuming
MW No Debt: and if you don't make your payments, they keep the money and what
you have paid them.
MadamePrez: that Wells Fargo will probably try to get away with paying as
little as possible.
LCAPERSINO: i've decided to reaffirm a car lease to start rebuilding . do you
think this is a good way?
MW No Debt: Well your lawyer should be able to help with that...
WKwanmis: oh, i thought if i wanted a 2000 loan i give them 2000 to hold and
they give me 2000
WKwanmis: i pay for the interest and payments for the specify time range and
at the end
OnlineHost: DugzTalkng has entered the room.
MW No Debt: Yes a car loan/lease is one of the best ways to help start
rebuilding.
WKwanmis: get the 2000 back too
OnlineHost: REED93089 has entered the room.
MW No Debt: No WK.. scroll up and read what I told you.
OnlineHost: MLPIRES has entered the room.
OnlineHost: JayJayPee has entered the room.
DugzTalkng: sorry I'm back now
MW No Debt: Ok Dugz
WKwanmis: what you're saying is if i want a 2000 loan, i make payments until
i finish making payments
WKwanmis: then i get the 2000 is that right
MW No Debt: they loan you the oney but hold it until you have paid for it.
DugzTalkng: thanks
MW No Debt: Yes WK
WKwanmis: ok
WKwanmis: not much of a loan then huh? hehehhe
MW No Debt: They can't loose that way..
WKwanmis: more of a saving plan,
MW No Debt: Well it does help rebuild your credit..
WKwanmis: correct
MW No Debt: savings plan.. that works..
WKwanmis: how much should i take out and for how long, your recommendations
DugzTalkng: MW what do you do for a living?
MW No Debt: For a living? I opened my own business just recently, but I
worked for a shipping company
LCAPERSINO: MW ,I like that NO DEBT!! it's a good feeling Isn't it?
MW No Debt: for the past few years
MW No Debt: LCAPERSINO, yes it is.. but NO Debt.. referrs to NO cc'c.
MW No Debt: <G>
MW No Debt: There is always a debt of some sort.. LOL
DugzTalkng: how can one improve thier credit after a BK
MW No Debt: But yes. it does feel great.
MW No Debt: We were talking about this Dugz.. you can start with secured
credit cards, and secured loans
DugzTalkng: I've recv
WKwanmis: how much and how long MW for the secure loan
MW No Debt: That depends upon how much you think you can afford..
WKwanmis: does it matter
OnlineHost: Lilseymore has entered the room.
MW No Debt: A $1000.00 loan averages about $85 a month
DugzTalkng: I've recvd alot of info on secure cards lately dont know who is a
scam or what?
MW No Debt: No Wk it does not matter... as long as you can afford the
payment.
WKwanmis: ok
MW No Debt: Good Companies...

MW No Debt: to pay some debts
MW No Debt: I never heard of them saying you have to pay for equity you hold.
KWMSRN: II received a letter that said I may have to surrender the car or pay
the equity
DugzTalkng: MW you are very well informed about this stuff!
MW No Debt: Where are you located KWM?
KWMSRN: I'm waiting to hear back from them. Located in FL
MW No Debt: Thanks Dugz.. I just know, since I went through it.
LCAPERSINO: i was told that you can have up to $20,000 in equity
MW No Debt: Good ole Flordia.. I don't know if the rules are different there.
DugzTalkng: I also know !!!!
MW No Debt: There is an Equity allowance usually
KWMSRN: I think the equity allowance is very low in FL
MW No Debt: I am not sure if that is governed by state or federal mandates
though
KWMSRN: I'll be glad when it's over.

Tgreer1: Hello
LAV8OR: suprised at how simple it was
MW No Debt: Down payments on houses? If you have Va as a option.. No money
down..
MW No Debt: FHA is 5%
MW No Debt: Hud varies from 3% to 10% down
DugzTalkng: AH. not in our case va that is
MW No Debt: Gotcha.
DugzTalkng: so we could still get in for 3-10%?
MW No Debt: Yes, hud homes.. and there are VA repossions.. you can get into
those for $1000.00
MW No Debt: but you have to place bids..
LAV8OR: isn't it difficult to find a conventional mortgage after bnkrptzy
MW No Debt: and they are often a bit easy to get outbidded on
MW No Debt: Lav.. no not if you do something to reestablish your credit
rating and wait two years.
MW No Debt: from the time you were discharged
LAV8OR: such as??
MW No Debt: Secured credit cards, secured loans, car loans.. etc..
